Charles A. "Red" Lingle

Charles A. "Red" Lingle, 88, died peacefully at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, in his bed at home to be with his Lord.



He was born Aug. 1, 1921 in West Frankfort, to Charles and Celia Hennesy Lingle.



He was a member of Northern Baptist Church in West Frankfort.



He retired from Frankfort Township as a highway commissioner; worked at Home Lumber in West Frankfort for many years; and worked as a truck driver for many years.



He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Carl and wife, Jute Lingle, Ernest Lingle, Tom Lingle; sister, Elva Westray Tuner; infant niece; father and mother-in-law, William and Catherine Curtis; three brothers-in-law, Ira, Dale, and Arthur Curtis; three sisters-in-law, Theresa (Claude) Heflin, Violet (Jr.) Thomas, and Neda (Preston) Bixler.



He leaves behind a wife of 66 years, Irene (Curtis) Lingle of West Frankfort; daughter, Jeri (John) Gardner of West Frankfort; three sons, Gary (Cindy) Lingle, Larry (Mary Beth) Lingle, and Terry Lingle, all of West Frankfort; 10 grandchildren, John, Chuck, Susan, and Robert Gardner, Joe Lingle, Cathy Short, Missy Broy, Craig Lingle, Christian Lingle, and Lori Bass; 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.



Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010, in Northern Baptist Church in West Frankfort, with Pastor David Utley officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the church.



Memorials may be made to Northern Baptist Church; envelopes will be available and accepted at the church or the funeral home.
